Hello and welcome to McKay Designs est 2019. I’m Janette and
I take the utmost pride and pleasure in breathing new life into pre-lovedfurniture. Giving a second chance to furniture is in my blood, some of my fondest memories as a child are helping my parents to add personal touches tovintage items.

Apart from items for sale I also offer a commission service,
whether it's furniture from my stock or an item you already have, I can help design and create something unique to you.

I’m based on the Wirral in the North West of England but my
travels have inspired my art and I’m happy to take commissions all over the UK.

An ode to Opulence

McKay Designs caters for multiple aspects of home decor but we specialise in hand painted and blended furniture. From vases to dressers, each piece is one of a kind and bespoke, truly a piece of functional art in your home. Everything we create is hand painted, hand finished and unique. We have smaller decorative pieces like vases and mirrors, and larger furniture items such as sideboards, chest of drawers and cupboards. We also offer commercial commissions, so you can have an eye catching piece to enhance your business or workspace.

As a fully trained decorative painter I specialise in blending multiple colours to provide something as unique as you are. We provide individual finishes for individual people. With a McKay Design, you can rest assured that no two pieces are the same. I use a variety of techniques to layer and blend my pieces, and enjoy incorporating metallic finishes into my designs for that added glamour and luxe. I’m proud to work alongside Dixie Belle as a content creator and their paints and products from the USA are my preferred materials to use.

A Visual Voyage to Vintage

As you can probably tell from a lot of my designs, I am heavily influenced by my travels to India, Cambodia and Bali (to name a few)! When I visit a new country I like to immerse myself fully in their culture and way of life. I am that traveller that is taking photos of decrepit doors and backstreet markets for inspiration, and I like to think this comes through when I’m crafting my pieces.

I create furniture that has been adorned and adored; breathing new life and culture into existing pieces to give them a new purpose. I have a passion for vintage, and believe that every piece has a story to tell. Each bespoke piece is painted and designed with the utmost care and attention to the finest detail. As well as creating pieces that are breathtaking and visually beautiful, I pride myself on quality and craftsmanship.
