Inspired By My Travels
Hi and welcome to Mckay Designs, I'm Janette and my love of travel and painting have been combined to create one off pieces of furniture. Giving a 2nd chance to Pre-loved furniture is in the blood, I still remember as a child my parents adding their own personal touches to vintage items.
Based on the Wirral, I trained as a decorative painter learning the old skills of marbling and wood graining. Although my own style and the products I use have changed and developed, I still love the slower process of building semi-translucent layers over each other.

After taking a long break from commercial painting, I returned in 2019 updating furniture, Mckay Designs was started.
In 2020 I was asked to be a content creator for an American company, Dixie Belle, a role I’m still proud of holding. My love of travel has to be the biggest source of inspiration for me, having traveled to many countries in Asia…
