A beautifully individual vintage pine chest of drawers, completely hand painted and transformed with layers of colour, texture and floral-inspired decoupage.
This is a piece for someone who appreciates furniture with a little more soul — something created rather than simply painted.
The drawer fronts have been decorated using decoupage, but the finish doesn’t stop there. Texture was added to the surface before the decoupage was applied, followed by delicate washes and translucent layers of colour over the imagery. These layers soften and integrate the design, creating a beautifully aged, painterly finish with depth and movement.
Rather than aiming for a perfectly uniform finish, I’ve allowed the character of the original pine and the creative process to remain part of the piece. The result is a truly one-off chest with an artistic, softly weathered quality.
The body has been hand painted in complementary blue-green tones, with subtle variations and blending throughout. The finish has been built up gradually, giving the piece a sense of depth that changes gently as the light catches it.
