A beautiful vintage oak bureau, lovingly hand painted in a soft sage green with a subtle limewash-effect finish.
This lovely piece has plenty of original character, including the decorative carved detailing to the front and beautiful traditional bureau shape. The softly mottled finish gives the sloping fall-front a gently aged, almost limewashed appearance, with variations in tone that make the piece feel individual and tactile.
Inside, the bureau has been painted in a deep charcoal/black, creating a lovely contrast with the softer exterior. The writing surface has been lined with a botanical-inspired paper in delicate sage and blue-grey tones, adding a subtle decorative touch.
The drop-down writing surface opens to reveal useful compartments and a small drawer, making this both a beautiful decorative piece and a practical little workspace.
I particularly love the way the traditional oak bureau has been brought up to date with a soft, contemporary colour palette, while retaining all of its original character.
